Quickly making a name for himself as one of golf’s most promising young talents, Ludvig Aberg has revealed that he turned down yet another offer from the LIV Golf League, choosing instead to continue his career on the PGA Tour. The 24-year-old Swede, who played a pivotal role in Europe’s winning Ryder Cup team and secured his first PGA Tour title in November, shared insights on a Eurosport podcast regarding his decision. Noting that “red flags” were concerning, he walked fans through why he’s staying with the PGA Tour.

Aberg disclosed that he had received multiple contracts from LIV Golf, with the latest offer presented after his rookie season concluded triumphantly with a victory in the RSM Classic. Despite the financial allure, Aberg highlighted several red flags in the LIV Golf proposition, expressing concerns about potentially burning bridges. Emphasizing his commitment to competition over financial gains, Aberg asserted that he will not chase money and is content with his choice. When I look back, I am very confident in my decision. I will never chase money, what I do is compete. I did the right thing,” he said.

Aberg Not Following John Rahm to LIV Golf

This decision by Aberg follows the recent news of Jon Rahm joining LIV, along with speculation surrounding other PGA Tour players, including World No. 1 Viktor Hovland and Tony Finau, considering a move to the upstart circuit. (it appears both are staying with the PGA). Aberg’s confidence in his choice echoes sentiments shared by other golfers who prioritize competing against the best on the PGA Tour.

Reflecting on his preference for the PGA Tour, Aberg emphasized the rich history and traditions associated with its competitions. He expressed a desire to play against the best players, acknowledging the current fragmentation in the golf landscape.

Aberg has demonstrated exceptional talent throughout his rookie season. With eight top-25 finishes in 11 starts, a notable Ryder Cup performance, and a resounding victory at the RSM Classic, Aberg’s trajectory in the PGA Tour showcases his potential to be a formidable force in the world of golf.
