Bachman Debuts in LA's Loss to Miami, Offense Nonexistent
USA TODAY Sports

It was originally a very good week for the Los Angeles Angels up until Friday. They were coming off of three straight wins against the Boston Red Sox and one before that against the Minnesota Twins.

However, they were not able to find their bats in important moments in the first game of their new series against the Miami Marlins as they fell 6-2 in the dn. Reid Detmers was the starting pitcher for the Halos in this match and in his five innings recorded, he allowed ten hits to go with three runs.

The one that hurt him the most was a solo home run that traveled 425 feet in the third inning hit by none other than Miami's Jorge Soler.

Detmers started off the year pretty solid but has seen his numbers fluctuate ever since. Even though he allowed only three runs today and the rest of the damage was brought on mainly by Jacob Webb, his ERA only moved up a bit to 4.93.

Team manager Phil Nevin sounded off after the game about the 23-year-old LHP's performance and recognized that he could do do better moving forward.

"It wasn't his best," said Nevin. "It wasn't a bad one but certainly could have have a lot more damage in there. I didn't really think he had a real sharp slider today. The ball was kind of flat coming out. He was able to pitch around the game and keep us in it and that's what you ask from your starter. Just not enough offense."

And that last part about offense could not be more than true.

Mike Trout got the squad rolling with an RBI single in the fifth inning and Brandon Drury took thing further with a solo home run in sixth but it was very dry for the Halos at the plate on Friday.

They did record ten hits but many of the guys that made it to any bases were left there as LA struggled big-time down the stretch. However, on a brighter note, we were able to see Sam Bachman get hist first taste of the Major League.

Bachman was just called up on Thursday and got to see action in the final two innings of the Halos' loss to the Marlins. He struck out four batters while also allowing four hits and one run.

We are hoping for some much brighter outcomes these next two weeks!
