Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino has attracted the attention of Juventus and a number of other clubs around Europe.

Bianconeri sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli personally scouted the 27-year-old Spaniard during Real Sociedad’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain this week, impressed with the player’s work despite the disappointing result.

Merino, who has less than 18 months left on his contract with Real Sociedad, has seen over 2700 minutes of action across 35 total appearances this term, netting six goals and providing five assists.

Football Italia transfer expert Matteo Moretto provided an update on Juventus’ interest in Merino via Caught Offside.

Real Sociedad will sit down with the 27-year-old in the coming weeks to discuss a possible new contract, aware of interest from Juventus as well as clubs in Spain and England, like Atletico Madrid. It’s still unclear if he’ll pen a new deal or not, but the Spanish midfielder is happy with the Basque club.
